Does the registration cost change at all — i.e. are there early registration periods/deadlines with related discounts, after which the costs increase?

Yes, here is the price progression:
$50.00 Early Registration is until January 4th
$60.00 Registration price January 5th until Race Day
$75.00 Race Day Registration
